Still More Apple Project Planning Apps

Now on to…. Midius Project Planner- I could do better with OmniOutliner. Drat- was more of a budgeting and invoicing system. ProjectForum- I didn’t get past opening the app as I realized it was web-based. Power Card- No way to set priorities, no hierarchal display of tasks, crashed twice in the first five minutes of evaluation. CopyWrite- I thought I was using OmniOutliner. Didn’t provide any other advantages. JobOrder_Solo- Awkward interface, more of a client organizer app than a project planner. ConceptDraw Project- unintuitive interface (tab key didn’t move between cells as an example) and didn’t allow durations of less than one day. GanttPV- too simple for my complex needs.

I think at this point I’ve tried ‘em all. Narrowed down to two. PMX for $70 with the plugin or Merlin for $200+.

Have you given XTime Project a whirl? I have been comparing it to Merlin and find that it is more intuitive.

Yes, I have. I can’t believe I forgot to include it in my blogs. Unfortunately the majority of the tasks I need to schedule and keep track of are less than one day. XTime doesn’t allow you to create Tasks with a span of less than one day. You can create “Daily Events” that are less than one day, however they can’t be assigned resources or be added to the gantt chart.
