Apple has announced that Mac OS 10.4 a.k.a. Tiger will be available on Friday. I wonder how many people have already downloaded version 8A428 via Bittorrent? Surely they have more guts than me.

I’ve blogged about the spotlight feature before and I think that will be the biggest new feature for me. Go ahead and purchase your copy today, but you might want to resist temptation and not install for a couple of weeks (or until 10.4.1) and let everyone else work out all of the kinks and bugs.

I plan on installing Tiger on a separate external drive first to give it a good test. Then after verifying everything that I need works I will later install it on my PowerBook. After that time I will likely start recommending upgrade paths for my clients.
